Career Awareness!

Keheley families – we need your help!
Each spring we teach Career Awareness to our 1st through 5th grade students. It is an opportunity for them to learn about a variety of occupations from Georgia’s 17 Career Clusters.  We are working on a hallway display again this year that will reinforce the Career Clusters that our students are learning about. In order to help us bring this display to life, please consider sending in a photo of you working at your job. Please include your name, your child’s name, teacher’s name and the name of the Career Cluster in which you work. This information could be written on the back of the photo or included in an envelope on a slip of paper.  You can also email your photo and information to us!

Georgia’s 17 Career Clusters are as follows, and the grade in which they are taught is in parentheses:

--Agriculture, Food, & Natural Resources (1st)           --Transportation, Distribution, & Logistics (1st)
--Law, Public Safety, and Security (1st)                      --Arts, A/V Technology, and Communications (2nd)

Relay for Life! Penny Wars!!!

Keheley’s Relay for Life Team invites all students to participate in a Penny War!

WHENTuesday, March 14th through Friday, March 17th
WHY:  To benefit the American Cancer Society
WHERE:  Students drop off coins into grade level jugs in the cafeteria during their lunch time
MORE DETAILS:  Our Relay for Life Team decided on this coin war as a friendly competition between grade levels.  We want students to take ownership of coin placement in class jugs while using estimation and strategy.  How does that come into play?  The purpose of the “war” is to have them bring in coins and battle each other by putting silver in another grade level’s jug and pennies in their own grade level jug.
Only pennies count toward the positive total for your grade level and silver deducts from the total of another grade level’s jug of your choice.

Do we welcome larger cash donations? Absolutely!  As it is a penny war, dollar bills will neither add to nor deduct from any grade level coin total for the competition itself. Bills just aren’t visible in the jugs when buried by coins, and make it hard for students to strategize!  All donations of dollar bills would go to the grand total for the school. The purpose for this competition is for the kids to have fun while doing something good for charity.  Every coin counts!
