Keheley’s Relay for
Life Team invites all students to participate in a Penny War!
WHEN: Tuesday, March 14th through Friday,
March 17th
WHY: To benefit the American Cancer Society
WHERE: Students drop off coins into grade level jugs in the
cafeteria during
their lunch time
MORE DETAILS: Our Relay for Life Team decided on this coin war as
a friendly competition between grade levels. We want students to take
ownership of coin placement in class jugs while using estimation and
strategy. How does that come into play? The purpose of the “war” is
to have them bring in coins and battle each other by putting silver in another
grade level’s jug and pennies in their own grade level jug.
Only pennies count toward the positive total for your grade level and silver deducts from the total of another grade level’s jug of your choice.

Do we welcome larger cash donations?
Absolutely! As it is a penny war, dollar
bills will neither add to nor deduct from any grade level coin total for the
competition itself. Bills just aren’t visible in the jugs when buried by coins,
and make it hard for students to strategize!
All donations of dollar bills would go to the grand total for the
school. The purpose for this competition is for the kids to have fun while
doing something good for charity. Every coin counts!
